IP Address : Soul In Cyber Security World

IP Address: Soul Of Cyber Security World

IP your virtual name, let’s know it.

IP stands for Internet Protocol. It is allocated to each internet user when they are connected to the internet. When you are browsing internet then your each and every device is identified by its particular IP address.

Let’s know your IP, you search for “myip” in google it result in like 192.168.1.1

It states that the IP is differentiated in 4 different parts. Each contains 8bits.

For ex. 0.0.0.0 In binary (machine level language) it is given as 00000000.00000000.00000000.00000000

Allocation to each binary bit is shown in the figure.

IP is classified in standard 5 types

  • Class A
  • Class B
  • Class C
  • Class D
  • Class E

As day by day devices increased through which we access internet. There was lack of IP addresses.

Here comes the concept of classless IP address

Let’s have a discussion over classless IP addresses.

Classless Addressing

To decrease the wastage of IP addresses, we utilize sub-netting. What we do is that we utilize have id bits as net id bits of a classful IP address. We give the IP address and characterize the quantity of bits for veil alongside it, like, 192.168.1.1/28. Here, subnet cover is found by putting the given number of bits out of 32 as 1, as, in the given address, we have to put 28 out of 32 bits as 1 and the rest as 0, thus the subnet veil would be 255.255.255.240.

A Few Esteems Figured in Subnetting :

  1. Number of Subnets : Given bits for cover – No. of bits in default veil

  1. Subnet Address: AND aftereffect of subnet veil and the given IP address

  1. Communicate Address: By putting the host bits as 1 and holding the system bits as in the IP address

  1. Number of hosts per subnet : 2 – 2

  1. To begin with Host ID : Subnet address + 1 (adding one to the twofold portrayal of the subnet address)

  1. 6. Last Host ID : Subnet address + Number of Hosts

Illustration:

Given IP Address – 172.16.0.0/25, locate the quantity of subnets and the quantity of hosts per subnet. Additionally, for the main subnet square, discover the subnet address, first host ID, last host ID and communicate address.

Arrangement :

This is a class B address. In this way, no. of subnets = 2 = 2 = 512.

No. of hosts per subnet = 2 – 2 = 2 – 2 = 128 – 2 = 126

For the main subnet block, we have subnet address = 0.0, first host id = 0.1, last host id = 0.126 and communicate address = 0.127
